One Manchester City player has now done something that one of Manchester United’s star signings has not been able to do this season.
The Blues picked up their 26th Premier League win of the season this afternoon by beating Fulham 4-0 at Craven Cottage.
Their remaining games of the season include an away trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday and then a home tie against West Ham United on the final day.
Focusing on the recent win over Fulham, one City player, in particular, ended up having a big impact on the match and doing something that one of United’s big-money signings has failed to do this term.
Josko Gvardiol has now scored more goals than Man United star
After Josko Gvardiol opened the scoring for City in the first half against Fulham, journalist Joe Bray shared a post on his X account highlighting that the defender has now scored more goals than Antony has for United this season.
The Croatian then scored his second of the game in the second half to put the Blues 3-0 up, taking his tally for the season to four in 26 appearances.
In terms of Antony, the winger, who United paid £82m to sign during the 2022 summer transfer window, has only been able to find the back of the net once in 28 Premier League games this season.
Gvardiol’s impressive debut season at City
Bearing in mind how the 22-year-old, who is predominantly a centre-back, has been mostly playing his debut season in England in the left-back role, this shows how impressive it has been for him to have scored more goals than Antony.
Even though the Citizens spent a considerable amount of money to sign Gvardiol from RB Leipzig last summer, his two goals today could prove to be vital in the title race.
If City were to go on and win the league again, it would be safe to say that the defender would have had a very successful first season at the Etihad Stadium.
