5-star WR Kaliq Lockett updates official visit schedule

Sachse (Texas) five-star wide receiver Kaliq Lockett has four official visits scheduled through June, but there has been a slight change to the itinerary.

Lockett was initially set to take visits to LSU (May 31), USC (June 7), Florida State (June 14) and Texas (June 21). Three of those trips remain unchanged, but Lockett will now take an official visit to Texas A&M instead of USC on June 7, per On3’s Steve Wiltfong.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Lockett was one of a number of star prospects to visit College Station for the Aggies’ spring game last month.

“The culture change at A&M is eye-catching,” Lockett told On3. “Coach Elko is really making a big impact not only with the players but with the coaches and fans. You can tell he means business.”

On the visit, Lockett connected with Texas A&M top-50 quarterback commit Husan Longstreet.

“Definitely getting to connect with the quarterback commit Husan Longstreet,” Lockett said was a plus regarding the trip. “My first time meeting him in person. Great guy and we were talking about the possibility of us linking up at A&M in the future.”

Kaliq Lockett Recruit Profile

Lockett is the nation’s No. 14 overall prospect, No. 2 wide receiver and No. 5 recruit from Texas in the 2025 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

On3’s Scouting and Rankings team writes this about him as a prospect:

“Long-limbed pass-catcher with an outstanding catch radius and functional movement skills. Measured in at around 6-foot-1.5, 170 pounds prior to his senior season. Has elite length and a big frame, with arms that measure over 34-inches to go with 10.5-inch hands. Shows the ability to win at every level on Friday nights and in the camp setting. Stacks cornerbacks off the line of scrimmage with his initial burst and releases. Offers the movement skills of a smaller wide receiver with the catch radius and high-point ability of a jumbo pass-catcher.

“Shows shake and good play speed to separate within his routes. Plays with a high level of technical ability. Catches with good technique, using his hands to frame the football. Shows acrobatic in-air ability with the wherewithal to out-jump defenders in contested situations. Also flashes high level tracking skills. Turned in a strong junior season, hauling in 59 catches for 1,299 yards and 13 touchdowns. Will need to continue filling out his frame.”
