King Charles ‘joked he’d have Prince Harry searched for wearing a wire’, expert claims

King Charles didn’t meet with Prince Harring during his visit to London, and reportedly cracked a joke about needing reassurances his son wasn’t wearing a wire, an expert has claimed.

The monarch’s diary was too full to see his son Prince Harry when he flew thousands of miles back to his homeland for a big event this week. The Duke of sussex released a statement on King Charles’ schedule being too jam-packed to see his second-born after he resumed royal duties following treatment for cancer. Although reports speculated whether the father and son duo would meet face-to-face for the first time since the 39-year-old visited after his cancer news, Harry came out to tell the world they wouldn’t. Now, a royal expert claims King Charles joked he’d have to search Prince Harry for wearing a wire during their next meeting, in fear he’d tape the conversation for another venture.

Harry returned solo to the UK without Meghan Markle again to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.

For the big date itself, the Duke arrived to cheering crowds outside St Paul’s Cathedral to mark 10 years of the Games he founded back in 2014. The Games welcome service personnel and veterans to compete in sport, offering mental health and emotional support from others who took up duty.

Rumors Harry would meet his father after he started his cancer treatment were quashed though, by the Duke himself.

A spokesperson for the 39-year-old told the press: “In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not the duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full programme.

“The duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”

Tom Quinn, royal author, told The Mirror Charles made a dig at Harry, suggesting he’d wear a wire to fuel another book or Hollywood interview.

He said: “When King Charles heard his son was planning to return for the Invictus Games, he joked that if he saw Harry he would have to have him searched first to see if he was taping their conversation!

“And, of course, at many levels this is no joking matter.”

It’s not the first time private matters made their way into the public.

For Harry’s memoir, Spare, which was released in January 2023, he published personal conversations with his father and brother, Prince William.

He also alleged he and William, heir to the British throne, had a phsysical altercation over him marrying Meghan Markle. The Invictus Games founder also published the supposed text exchange between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle which made the Duchess cry, over bridesmaid dresses, when reports initially claimed Princess Kate had been the one to shed tears.

During Harry’s interview with Oprah Winfrey, back in 2021, he also alleged a private conversation took place between himself and a senior royal. The Duke claimed there were concerns raised over what Archie’s skin color would be before he was born.

Despite the weighty allegation, The Duke of Sussex later claimed he did not imply any member of the royals were racist, nor say something that was.

Buckingham Palace released a short statement at the time, detailing although ‘recollections may vary’ they would deal with the matter privately, as a family. Prince William was heard speaking to reporters the following day from the interview, and told them they were ‘not a racist’ family.

No one from The Firm have responded to any of the claims in Harry’s book.
