Aston Villa in talks to give youngster compared to Harry Kane a new contract

Aston Villa are in talks to give one of their most talented youngsters a new contract at Villa Park.

Villa are a club built on their pride in giving youth a chance. One of the best talents to emerge from their academy was legend Jack Grealish who they of course sold to Manchester City for £100 million.

The Villans are also prolific at shopping for precocious talents in the transfer market, picking up Derby County’s Omari Kellyman and striker Rory Wilson from Rangers in July 2022.

Wilson is regarded as one of the world’s most exciting talents having watched the striker net an impressive 19 goals in 29 appearances this season.

The 18-year-old – dubbed the Scottish Harry Kane – has scored 16 of his goals in the U18 Premier League, including hat-tricks against Tottenham, West Brom and Norwich.

A scorer of goals for fun, the precocious talent sees his contract at Villa Park expire in 2025, which is why the club have taken action to give him a fresh deal to avoid him leaving on the cheap.

Aston Villa in talks to give Rory Wilson new contract

According to reliable Belgian journalist Sacha Tavorlieri, Villa are in talks to give Wilson a new long-term contract till June 2029.

The Scottish sharpshooter wants a guaranteed pathway to first-team football as some of Europe’s top clubs are circling.

Although nothing has been agreed on the player’s side, Villa will hope he accepts the proposal, otherwise, clubs can snap him up on a pre-contract proposal in January 2025 by paying a compensation fee of €270,000 (£232,000).

That would be an incredible bargain for a player with limitless potential as the youngster looks destined to ply his trade in the Premier League one day.

Unai Emery’s success with youngsters

During his time at Arsenal, Unai Emery was responsible for unearthing one of England’s finest talents, Bukayo Saka, giving him his debut as a 17-year-old.

Saka appeared in the Europa League thanks to Emery and is now arguably the Gunners’ most important player.

Emery continued that trend of trusting youngsters at Aston Villa by unleashing 18-year-old Kellyman from the bench in the 4-0 win over Ajax.

The Spaniard is brilliant at integrating young players into the first-team setup and he promises to achieve similar success with Wilson, who will no doubt be knocking on the managers’ door very soon if he continues his impressive scoring form.
