Thomas Tuchel reveals truth behind Man Utd and Chelsea links

By Joshua Browne

Thomas Tuchel has quashed the rumours suggesting he's been in conversation with Manchester United and former club Chelsea as his tenure with Bayern Munich nears its end.

On Saturday afternoon, Tuchel faced the press to discuss Bayern's impending final home match of the season against Wolfsburg, emphasising the team's primary goal of clinching a victory to rise to second place in the Bundesliga standings before he departs at the end of the season.

Tuchel is believed to be keen on a return to the Premier League, where both United and Chelsea have been linked with his services, but the German boss made it clear he has not yet started discussing his next move.

"There have been no talks with other clubs so far," Tuchel stressed. "That situation has been clear since February.

"There's nothing that I want to discuss publicly here and no decision has been made yet. I have to work that out with myself and my coaching team. So this is not a completely selfish decision. That will happen in the next few weeks, calmly."

In 2022, Tuchel was booted out of the Chelsea doors by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital with a record of 60 wins, 24 draws, and 16 defeats in 100 games and a win percentage of 60%, the fourth highest win-rate by a Chelsea manager who managed at least 100 games, after Jose Mourinho (67.03%), Antonio Conte (65.09%), and Carlo Ancelotti (61.09%).

Reports suggest Tuchel feels as though he has 'unfinished business' in England's top flight and could be tempted to return, although whether there will be any suitable jobs available to him remains to be seen.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino has issued a series of increasingly tetchy responses to questions about his future at Stamford Bridge, which will be decided this summer following a meeting with the club's owners.

Over at United, Erik ten Hag finds himself under immense pressure after a string of poor results but has publicly insisted he still feels confident he will be in charge next season.
