Tottenham fans are all saying the same thing about Micky van de Ven following the win over Burnley

Tottenham Hotspur are back to winning ways after sealing all three points against Burnley on Saturday.

Four consecutive defeats for Tottenham has seen any hope of Champions League qualification take a major blow.

Ange Postecoglou‘s side knew they could not afford too many more slip-ups with Newcastle United picking up some momentum during the run-in.

Results elsewhere went in Tottenham’s favour with the Toon drawing against Brighton & Hove Albion which has increased the gap to six points now.

But Spurs were made to do it the hard way once again at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against a Burnley side who were inflicted relegation by full-time.

Goals from Pedro Porro and Micky van de Ven saved the day with the Tottenham forwards struggling once again.

And it was the Dutch centre-back who the Spurs fans were all left in agreement over after the final whistle.

Micky van de Ven spares Tottenham’s blushes once again

It has been a strange season in north London with Tottenham’s attack coming seriously off the boil over recent weeks.

Heung-min Son, Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson are all struggling to find their shooting boots currently.

One man who is not struggling in front of goal, though, is the 23-year-old defender who netted his second in his last six.

And there is still the argument that his goal against Arsenal should have stood after a controversial VAR decision.

Van de Ven was awarded the Supporters’ Player of the Season before kick-off and he repaid their votes with a winning strike in the dying stages.

After what has been a sensational season for the Dutchman, Spurs fans took to X to hail his display following his goal against the Clarets.

With spirits high after the match, one fan jokingly said, ‘Van de Ven, our best finisher!’ Whilst another followed on a similar pattern by adding, ‘Our new #9?’

One fan was in favour of the positional change, saying, ‘We need him left back and radu cb during city game. We see the difference.’ And another also said, ‘Can you buy more like him please’.

Another fan has clearly been impressed with what he has seen this season, saying, ‘I’ll say it again. Whatever you have VDV contracted for, extend it!’ With one final fan simply stating, ‘PLAYER OF THE SEASON’.

Impressive stats show just how impressive Micky van de Ven has been

Postecoglou has withheld any temptation to break up the Van de Ven and Cristian Romero partnership as the struggles at left-back continue.

However, the Dutchman was pushed out to left-back in the latter stages of the game when Radu Dragusin was brought on.

And it was from that position which he found himself in the Burnley box and slotting the ball home to seal the points.
