Alan Smith stunned by what Nottingham Forest player did in 3-2 loss vs Chelsea, City Ground also heard gasping

Alan Smith was left stunned by what one Nottingham Forest player did during the 3-2 defeat against Chelsea on Saturday evening.

The City Ground faithful could even be heard gasping in disbelief.

It was a party atmosphere inside the City Ground against the Blues following Luton’s 3-1 defeat to West Ham, which all but secured Nottingham Forest‘s Premier League status.

Amidst the celebratory chants and cheers – however – gasps were heard after what Ola Aina did in the 7th minute…

What Ola Aina did to stun Alan Smith and Nottingham Forest fans

Within the opening ten minutes of the 3-2 defeat against Chelsea, the Nigeria international blew everybody away with his enormous throw-in.

In the 7th minute, Aina – who revealed he supports Chelsea prior to the game – launched a throw into the box that Rory Delap would have been proud of, with Smith remarking while on commentary duty for Sky Sports: “Might be the longest I’ve seen all season.”

With giants such as Chris Wood, Moussa Niakhite and Willy Boly waiting in the box, this is definitely a trait Nuno Espirito Santo should look to exploit next season – just like Tony Pulis famously did with Delap at Stoke.

Time for Nuno to show his skills

To build on the aforementioned point, Nuno can start to experiment with his Nottingham Forest side and be a bit more creative with tactics – now survival is secured.

Having taken over from Steve Cooper with the Garibaldi sat 17th in the Premier League – and with just one win in 13 games – the Portuguese tactician couldn’t really take too many risks.

It was a time to focus on getting the basics right, starting with a cohesive defensive unit.

Now – however – with the pressure off Nottingham Forest’s shoulders, we should start to see those at the City Ground express themselves a bit more.
