Football: Doan nets 6th goal of season in Freiburg draw

Japan attacker Ritsu Doan bagged his sixth goal of the season in the German Bundesliga on Saturday as Freiburg drew 1-1 at home with Heidenheim.

Doan's diving header gave Freiburg the lead in the 29th minute when he got on the end of a cross from left-back Christian Gunter. Kevin Sessa drew level for the visitors nine minutes later at Europa-Park Stadion.

Japanese forward Shuto Machino is set to appear in the German top tier next season after his club Holstein Kiel won promotion from the second division for the first time.

Machino, who was in Japan's 2022 World Cup squad, played 74 minutes in Kiel's 1-1 home draw with Fortuna Dusseldorf that secured them a top-two finish and an automatic promotion.

In the Scottish Premiership, Daizen Maeda's cross drew an own goal as Celtic beat Rangers 2-1 at home to move six points clear of their Old Firm rivals with two games to go.

Matt O'Riley swept in the 35th-minute opener for Celtic and Maeda's ball from the left was steered into Rangers' net by their own defender John Lundstram three minutes later.

Cyriel Dessers headed home to halve the visitors' deficit in the 40th minute but Lundstram was shown a straight red before halftime and Celtic saw the game out to edge closer to their third straight league title.
