'One of the best in the world': Reece James in awe of Chelsea teammate after Nottingham Forest win

Chelsea defender Reece James has been speaking about one of his teammates after the Blues’ 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest.

Chelsea came from 2-1 down to beat Nottingham Forest and go level on points with sixth-placed Newcastle United.

Reece James was making his first appearance since December, fit again after his hamstring operation, and the right-back was able to make a big impact.

James was introduced in the second half as a substitute and set up Nicolas Jackson’s winning goal after crossing the ball into the box for the striker to head in.

The Chelsea captain, however, was quick to turn the attention to one of his team-mates after the game.

Two other England internationals also managed to make an impact in Chelsea’s win at the City Ground.

It was Raheem Sterling who drew Mauricio Pochettino‘s side level after they had gone 2-1 down, while Cole Palmer helped to put them in front in the first half after assisting Mykhailo Mudryk’s opener.

James has now described the latter as one of the best players in the world.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, the 24-year-old said: “Cole is one of the best in the world I think personally. You’ve seen what he can do when he gets his chance.

“At City, he probably didn’t play as much as he wanted and he came here and took the opportunity with both hands.”

Is Cole Palmer really one of the best players in the world?

This season, he has been. His assist against Forest was his 38th goal contribution of the campaign for Chelsea. That is incredible for a 22-year-old who has not been in the senior game for too long.

In the Premier League, Palmer has scored 21 goals and provided 10 assists.

Had Chelsea been challenging for the title, he would probably be the favourite for the Premier League Player of the Season award.

Palmer may not win it, but he definitely deserves his nomination for the accolade.
