A 5k fundraising walk is to take place in a beautiful forest setting this summer, helping to raise money for dementia research.

Alzheimer’s Research UK is holding a series of Walk For A Cure events across the UK this summer — with one to take place at Sherwood Pines, Edwinstowe.

The walk — which is dementia-friendly and accessible to all — aims to bring together families, communities and everyone impacted by dementia.

Almost one million people in the UK are living with dementia and, tragically, none of them will survive.

Alzheimer’s Research UK aims to better understand dementia, improve diagnosis, reduce people’s risk of dementia, and create treatments, through its research.

The walk at Sherwood Pines will take place on July 14, and people who take part can expect entertainment, live music, and a friendly, fun atmosphere.

The walk will take a signposted, shaded route through the trees, on gravel paths suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, with rest stops and accessible toilets at the event village.

Dogs are welcome on leads.

Upon arrival, walkers will receive a t-shirt and lanyard, and at the finish line will receive a medal.

It’s free to register, with a fundraising target of £150 for each entrant. Participants can register to take part online here.

Walkers can join up solo, with friends and family, or set up a corporate fundraising page for a group of colleagues.

Every pound raised will help Alzheimer’s Research UK in the search for a cure.
