Football: Urawa win 2nd straight WE League title as Kobe lose

Urawa Reds Ladies won their second straight WE League title Sunday following a loss by closest rivals INAC Kobe Leonessa that left an insurmountable seven-point gap with two games remaining.

Urawa, without a league fixture on the weekend, amassed 53 points on the back of a 12-game winning run. Their title was sealed when Kobe, the 2021-22 inaugural season winners, lost 2-1 away to JEF United Chiba Ladies.

Reds' Japan forward Kiko Seike leads the scoring chart with 17 goals, eight ahead of her closest rivals.

Urawa's latest silverware follows their AFC Women's Club Championship victory on Friday, when they came from behind to beat South Korea's Incheon Hyundai Steel Red Angels 2-1 in the final.
