Report: Liverpool move ahead of Juventus in race for Teun Koopmeiners due to one factor

Liverpool may have moved ahead of Juventus in the race to sign Atalanta midfielder Tuen Koopmeiners, according to a recent report.

The Reds are starting to prepare for life with Jurgen Klopp and attention has already turned towards the fast-approaching transfer window.

It’s near-certain that Feyenoord manager Arne Slot will be taking the reigns at Anfield and it seems he’s keen to add Koopmeiners to his ranks.

That said, Liverpool seem to be in pole position to land his signature due to one factor that has just come to light.

Arne Slot could be the deciding factor in Teun Koopmeiners chase

According to Tutto Juve, Liverpool have a ‘big advantage’ over Juventus in the pursuit to sign Koopmeiners due to Arne Slot.

The publication explains that Slot’s ‘cover letter’ could be the determining factor and they also add that the Merseysiders have the greater financial power.

Chelsea are also said to be keeping tabs on the 26-year-old but it appears to be a two-horse race for his signature.

Slot and Koopmeiners previously worked together at AZ Alkmaar and the Dutch boss was able to maximise his potential – even making him club captain.

So, it seems a reunion could be on the cards.

The cost of Teun Koopmeiners

As alluded to, Liverpool’s financial power is expected to give them an advantage as Koopmeiners’ £51m price tag might be too steep for the Serie A outfit.

Further, The Reds will be able to offer more in wages, so as it stands, all of these factors point towards a move to Merseyside.

The only stumbling block may be Koopmeiners’ possible desire to remain in Italy, having lived there since 2021.
