Mauricio Pochettino so confident £250k-a-week Chelsea man is going to add real ‘quality’ in the last two games

Chelsea have just two games left to play following their 3-2 win against Nottingham Forest.

Their first of the two is a tie with Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Wednesday.

After that, Chelsea host Bournemouth at home on the last day of the Premier League season.

Mauricio Pochettino‘s men need wins as they look to secure Europa League qualification.

After beating Forest, they are now level on points with Newcastle United, who currently occupy sixth position.

Mauricio Pochettino backs Chelsea star to bring quality and experience

Chelsea cannot afford to mess around in their last two games of the campaign.

It means Reece James could get some game time after returning from injury, and Pochettino thinks he can add a lot to this Chelsea side if he plays.

Discussing the right-back after the Forest win, the Blues boss said to BBC Match of the Day: “He is unlucky because we are at the end of the season and there are only two games less.

“He can add his quality and experience.”

Reece James can add more quality and experience to Chelsea team

James is still 24, so he is not exactly a seasoned veteran. However, the England international is now Chelsea captain and there are a lot of younger players in Pochettino’s squad, so compared to them, he is quite experienced.

James also has a lot of quality, which was on show in his side’s recent win at the City Ground.

It was his perfect cross that Nicolas Jackson managed to head into the back of Forest’s net to secure all three points for Chelsea.

If James, who earns £250,000 a week (Spotrac) at Stamford Bridge, does get on to the pitch against Brighton and Bournemouth, then he is definitely going to bring something extra to the team.

It is a real shame that the defender has not been able to stay fit this term. The Blues would probably be higher in the table had he managed to.
