Even Enzo Fernandez and Dominik Szoboszlai cannot match what Harvey Elliott has done this season

Harvey Elliott is leading a list of players in the Premier League this season that includes Dominik Szoboszlai and Enzo Fernandez.

Harvey Elliott has been one of the best players for Liverpool since the turn of the year. He’s just continuing to catch the eye week in and week out.

It says it all that since the 10th February, only Mohamed Salah (12) has more goal contributions for Liverpool than Elliott (11).

During that period, Elliott has registered more goals and assists than the likes of Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez.

He’s simply been sensational, and he’s shown why he should be regarded as one of the best young players in the Premier League.

Harvey Elliott’s leading statistics in the Premier League

It’s not just among Liverpool’s players that Elliott has been a stand-out player, he’s also stood-out among his positional and age peers in the Premier League.

Taking a look at U23 central midfielders in the Premier League this season no one has averaged more goals per 90 minutes than Elliott.

The Liverpool midfielder averages 0.19 goals per 90 minutes this season, which is higher than second-placed Pape Matar Sarr who has an average of 0.13 goals per 90 minutes and third placed Dominik Szoboszlai who averages 0.12 goals per 90 minutes.

Meanwhile, in the top five, as per Wyscout, is also Enzo Fernandez with 0.11 goals per 90 minutes and Kobbie Mainoo, who averages 0.10 goals per 90 minutes.

Does Harvey Elliott deserve to be in the England squad for Euro 2024?

On this form and based on the numbers, Elliott cannot be overlooked for England at this summer’s tournament in Germany.

With squad sizes having been increased to 26 by UEFA, Elliott should be one of the wildcard picks.

He’s been in great form not just for Liverpool this season but for England’s U21 side as well, and he’s definitely knocking on Gareth Southgate’s door.
