Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has decided to replace the current Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu. He suggested that First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Andrey Belousov be elected as a replacement, Russian media state.
Today, on May 12, Putin made a number of proposals to change the leadership of the Russian Federation's security forces.
Almost all current leaders remained in their previous positions. Among them:
- Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs;
- Konstantin Chuychenko, Minister of Justice;
- Vladimir Kolokoltsev, head of the Interior Ministry;
- Aleksandr Kurenkov, head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations;
- Aleksandr Bortnikov, Director of the Federal Security Service;
- Sergey Naryshkin, head of the Foreign Intelligence Service;
- Viktor Zolotov, head of the Russian National Guard;
- Dmitry Kochnev, head of the FPS.
However, the Russian dictator decided to change the Minister of Defense, who is currently Sergey Shoygu. Putin suggested Andrey Belousov as an alternative.
What is known about Belousov
Belousov currently serves as First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
Since July 21, 2022, Belousov has been under EU sanctions for supporting Russia's war against Ukraine.
Previously, he held the following positions:
- Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation;
- Director of the Department of Economics and Finance of the Government of the Russian Federation;
- Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation;
- Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation;
- First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
Reappointment of Shoygu
According to Putin's decree, Shoygu was appointed Secretary of the Russian Security Council.
