The hilarious chant Arsenal fans were singing long after full-time after beating Man Utd

Many Arsenal supporters could all be heard singing the same thing at Old Trafford after the final whistle confirmed their 1-0 win against Manchester United.

A storm broke out over Old Trafford in the second half, as Arsenal held on to a 1-0 lead which kept their Premier League title dream alive.

The first half of the match was played out in glorious sunshine. The Gunners took the lead in the heat with 20 minutes on the clock, after poor positioning from Casemiro allowed Kai Havertz to remain onside in the final third in acres of space.

The German forward drove forward into the box and fired a low cross into the six-yard box, where Leandro Trossard was on hand to turn it home from close range.

Arsenal scrape by Man Utd to keep title dream alive

However, it had not been a vintage Arsenal performance up that point, and as soon as his side made the breakthrough Mikel Arteta was spotted giving detailed instructions to centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes.

As an attacking force, the Gunners still failed to improve after their goal. The Red Devils were able to enjoy plenty of possession and territory, whilst the visitors’ midfield unit could not establish their authority on the match. Thomas Partey was called out by Arsenal fans for producing a particularly poor performance.

However, the Arsenal defence has been in a class of its own this season, and they held firm until the bitter end to seal this vital victory.

Forgetting all about the underwhelming display their side put on, the rapturous Arsenal fans remained behind to celebrate in the rain, whilst all the home supporters drained out of Old Trafford with haste.

What Arsenal fans were singing after win over Manchester United

As reported by journalist Miguel Delaney on X, many Arsenal fans could be heard singing a rendition of “Old Trafford is falling down” in an otherwise deserted stadium.

This chant has something of a double meaning. First of all, it is referring to Manchester United’s fall from grace. For so long they were the dominant force in English football, but are now without a title since 2013, and have been in particularly woeful form of late. They are currently on course for an eighth-place finish in the Premier League this season.

On top of that, there is a substantial leak in the roof of Old Trafford in one corner of the 114-year-old ground. A torrent of water could be seen cascading from the roof by the end of the match, as the storm raged over the North West.
