'Exceptional': Sacha Kljestan raves over player who has 'elevated' Inter Miami beyond Lionel Messi

Sacha Kljestan has praised one Inter Miami player for taking the team to new levels despite having Lionel Messi on their payroll.

The Argentine international endured his first quiet game last night for the Herons way in Canada against CF Montreal, with Messi failing to build from his back-to-back record-breaking performances in the last two games.

Despite this, Inter Miami came away with a big 3-2 win against Montreal, with the Florida franchise on a five-game winning streak heading into Wednesday’s huge derby clash against Orlando City.

And for Kljestan, one player has helped Inter Miami greatly in this winning run.

Matias Rojas praised after match-winning Inter Miami performance vs Montreal

Speaking on MLS Wrap-Up, league legend Kljestan lauded Matias Rojas for his heroics for Inter Miami in yesterday’s win in Canada, with the 28-year-old scoring a stunning free-kick before assisting Benjamin Cremaschi for the winning goal.

Having joined as a free-agent last month, Rojas’ impact at Inter Miami has been nothing short of spectacular, and Kljestan has now stated how the Paraguay international has somehow managed to take the Herons to another level.

Speaking after this weekend’s MLS results, Kljestan said about Inter Miami’s new attacking superstar: “Rojas in the last three games has been really exceptional.

“He’s come over and not looked out of place at all and has actually elevated Inter Miami to a whole other level that we didn’t think they had before they signed him. Key players are out week in week out and Rojas is the guy who this week and last week has stepped up.”

Rojas is unlocking new ways for Inter Miami to win

Rojas’ Inter Miami career might only be three games old, but the former Corinthians man is already proving to be quite the clutch player for the Herons since joining the franchise.

The versatile forward was exceptional against the New York Red Bulls last week, and this weekend has seen Rojas take on another starring role for Inter Miami against Montreal.

Indeed, with Messi having an off night, it was time for Rojas to shine for Inter Miami, and the 28-year-old showed that he can push the Herons to victory on his own.
