Russians strike at Kharkiv, hit suburbs

An explosion was heard in Kharkiv late tonight, May 12, due to enemy shelling. The Russians hit the suburbs during the attacks, report Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov.

The explosion in the Kharkiv area occurred around 22:40. According to the mayor's office, two strikes were recorded.

"An explosion was heard in Kharkiv. Please be careful. Both hits are in the nearest suburbs," the mayor said.

The administration clarified that the hits were recorded "outside the city of Kharkiv".

The military administration also added that as of now, there is no information about possible victims.

"At the moment, there are no casualties. Information about the destruction is being established," Syniehubov wrote in his Telegram.

Earlier, at about 21:40, the command of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that enemy tactical aircraft had been spotted in the northeast and south.

Russian shelling of Kharkiv and the region

As a reminder, the city of Kharkiv, as well as the region itself, are regularly under fire from the Russian military. This spring, the Russians focused their attacks on destroying energy facilities and infrastructure in the regional center and the region. In recent days, the shelling has intensified amid the Russian army's offensive in the border area of Kharkiv region.

Earlier it was reported that yesterday Kharkiv came under enemy fire twice. In particular, there was a strike in the suburbs.
