Hugh Freeze and his staff at Auburn are looking to land a top-10 recruiting class for the second consecutive cycle. The Tigers ranked No. 8 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, landing 12 blue-chip prospects. Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver Cam Coleman led the way as the cycle’s No. 4 overall prospect.
Auburn is off to a hot start in the 2025 class as well. The Tigers currently rank No. 8 in the 2025 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings with commitments from 15 prospects.
Auburn Class Breakdown
Ten blue-chip recruits headline Auburn’s 2025 class.
Enterprise (Ala.) four-star safety Eric Winters is the highest-rated commit for the Tigers as the nation’s No. 65 overall prospect. He’s joined in the top 150 by Opelika (Ala.) defensive lineman Malik Autry, Highland Home (Ala.) EDGE Jakaleb Faulk, Winona (Miss.) linebacker Tyler Lockhart and Bixby (Okla.) offensive tackle Broderick Shull.
Auburn appeared to lead in Alvin Henderson’s recruitment most of the way, but Henderson chose to commit to Penn State on April 11. That commitment lasted a little over two months before Henderson chose to come back home to Auburn.
“Auburn is home,” he told On3. “I really appreciate Penn State and I love it up there and their coaches, but Auburn is home. It always has been.”
Top Tigers Offensive Commit: OT Broderick Shull
Bixby (Okla.) four-star offensive tackle Broderick Shull joined the class on June 7 and ranks No. 149 overall in the On3 Industry Ranking. He chose the Tigers over Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Nebraska.
“I had the feeling. I got the feeling I was looking for in a college and immediately felt it at Auburn,” Shull told On3. “I did pray about it for a bit. I feel that feeling is what God spoke to me about and that’s being an Auburn football player.”
The Tigers blew Shull away when he made his debut trip to campus in March. Positive feelings continued to roll in as he returned in June.
“I definitely would say their style outside of the football field,” he said of what stood out. “They’re obviously a good football program with factories and coaches. Seeing how the community and the players, seeing how they acted outside of football, I loved it.”
Top Defensive Commit: SAF Eric Winters
Enterprise (Ala.) four-star safety Eric Winters headlines Auburn’s class as the No. 65 overall recruit in the On3 Industry Ranking. He pledged to the Tigers on June 15.
“Since Hugh Freeze got there, Auburn has been recruiting me hard,” Winters told On3. “He is a big part of why I committed to Auburn. He loves his players, he is a family guy and we built a great relationship. Coach Freeze is doing big things at Auburn and he made me feel like a priority and made me feel comfortable.”
Winters has visited the Plains a lot. He is familiar with the environment, the people and that factored into his decision as well.
“Auburn is the school I have visited the most. I have been going there since my freshman year, and it feels like family. Since coach Freeze took over, the atmosphere has changed and I like the feeling when I am there. I was always looking for that comfortable feeling and I found that at Auburn. I like it and my family does too.”
