I saw 23-year-old prove against Nottingham Forest that he can still be a star at Chelsea - opinion

Chelsea’s victory against Nottingham Forest will no doubt have been as sweet as any in this recent good run of form the Blues are in.

Mauricio Pochettino was afforded the rare luxury of being able to name an unchanged team for the visit to the Midlands, as he saw his side win away for the first time since victory over Crystal Palace.

Goals from Mykhailo Mudryk, Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson got the job done for Chelsea, with the feel-good story as far as supporters were concerned coming with the instant impact made by captain Reece James.

The skipper was on the pitch mere minutes before the game was turned on its head, with his pinpoint cross setting up the winner.

Seeing players step up in front of goal when Cole Palmer does not score will no doubt be a real boost to the manager, and Mudryk opened the scoring on the end of a glorious pass from the player of the season.

The Ukraine international has struggled for goals in recent weeks, which has been a slight concern given the fact other players around him have been taking their chances.

There is undoubted talent yet to be tapped in to with the 23-year-old, and his raw pace is really something any full-back will struggle to deal with when used right.

Mudryk shows he can be a star at Chelsea

His goal was the perfect example of this, with him bursting in behind to allow himself time to finish calmly in the opening moments of the game.

There were certainly moments where he was out of the game, although what he showed in those bright moments did enough to suggest if managed well he can be a real star here.

The boss has made sure to work hard with him individually this season, and Chelsea fans are now starting to finally see the rewards of all of that training on the pitch as the season comes to an end.
