'Onto better things'... Wonderkid confirms he has signed for Manchester United, leaving Aston Villa

Manchester United’s best shot at recapturing former glories is investment into the club’s flourishing academy.

Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo have both made the step up to become first team regulars, while Ethan Wheatley is one of Manchester United’s title-winning under-18s side who is pushing to follow.

Manchester United are continuing to add potential gems to the club’s academy as the club aim to keep the steady conveyor belt of talent flowing through Carrington.

Another young talent has now made his move to United effectively official, posing with the shirt and confirming his switch.

Dante Plunkett signs for Manchester United

The new name to sign with Manchester United is Dante Plunkett, who has left Aston Villa’s academy behind.

Plunkett was on trial with Manchester United in February, named on the bench for an under-18s game.

He then made his under-18s debut for the under-18s in the final league game of this season, with the league already won.

United In Focus reported how Plunkett was one of seven young players to watch who United are looking to push up next season.

Now, the teenager has confirmed his move, posing with his Manchester shirt underneath the famous Trinity statue at Old Trafford of Denis Law, Sir Bobby Charlton and George Best.

Leaving his Aston Villa stint behind him, he posted the caption on Instagram: “Onto bigger things!✝️ @manchesterunited

His message was ‘liked’ by United academy players including Jack Kingdon and Bendito Mantato.

Dante Plunkett strengthens left-back ranks

Dante Plunkett is a left-back, and strengthens Manchester United’s options at the position at academy level.

Last summer United signed Harry Amass, then 16, from Watford. But he has been promoted to the first team bench in recent weeks.

This can serve as inspiration for Plunkett of what is possible, especially as the left-back position is one where United have been lacking first team options this season due to injuries toLuke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
