Daisy Skelton hit an unbeaten 51 as Bishop’s Stortford under-15 girls triumphed at Letchworth in the Hertfordshire league.

Grace Gladen and Emilia Thompson were also undefeated on 39 and 21 respectively as they registered 151-1 from 20 overs.

Their opponents stalled on 130-6 as Mattie Hughes, Flo McBride, Skelton and Megan Laws got among the wickets while Gladen claimed a run out.

The team were out of luck in the Essex league, however, as they lost by one wicket to Kelvedon & Feering.

They could only muster 85-3 from their 16 overs and their opponents, who were aided by 41 extras, hit the winning runs in the 13th over of their reply despite Anastasis Packer’s 4-20.

The under-13s got the better of Harpenden by 281 runs to 269 at Cricketfield Lane.

Nyah Callan got a wicket with the first ball and there were further scalps for captain Ciara Prendeville and Isla Evans.

In reply, Stortford recovered from losing two wickets in the first over as Sophia Vasey, Callan and Libby Hughes hit some nice boundaries.

And excellent batting and communication from closing pair Prendeville and Ava Igbon-Woods in the last five overs saw them secure the win.

Hattie Meager landed the players’ player of the match award as she helped the under-11s win at Hutton in the first round of the Essex cup tournament.

She performed well with bat and ball as well as taking a superb catch at extra cover as they outscored a side featuring three county players by 96 runs to 60.

Stortford, skippered by Esme Maxwell, bowled tightly and fielded well with Freya Hill taking a wicket.
