Prince William shares throwback images of time in military ahead of taking on new role

Prince William has shared throw back images of his time in the military ahead of taking on a new role.

King Charles is officially handing over the role of Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps to Prince William later today.

William smiles brightly dressed in military uniform in a post on the Prince and Princess of Wales's official Instagram account.

The post reads: "Time flies! Looking back at the last two visits to @ArmyAirCorps in 1999 and 2008 ahead of today’s handover at Middle Wallop."

In one image, the prince stands with his arms crossed in front of a helicopter and the other, William smiles in the cockpit wearing a helmet.

Prince William served as a search and rescue pilot and as an air ambulance pilot during his time in the military.

It comes as the Prince of Wales is handed over the role of Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps to Prince William on Monday.

The monarch held the role for 31 years before passing the title down to his son at the Army Flying Museum in Middle Wallop, Hants.
