Steve Bruce now shares who he thinks is better - Pep Guardiola or Carlo Ancelotti

Steve Bruce has now picked who he believes is the better manager: Pep Guardiola or Carlo Ancelotti.

Several pundits have chimed in on which manager is superior, both currently and in terms of their careers overall.

Michael Owen claimed that if given the choice, he would have rather have worked under Pep Guardiola.

The Italian could perhaps make the debate a tighter one between himself and the £378,846-a-week manager if his Real Madrid team beat Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final.

Steve Bruce picks whether Guardiola or Ancelotti is better

The 64-year-old has won the most number of Champions League titles in his career, winning two each at AC Milan and Real Madrid respectively.

As for Pep Guardiola, he has three to his name and was stopped from equalling Carlo Ancelotti’s tally by his Real Madrid side in the quarter-final of the competition.

However, Ancelotti has won six league titles in his career in comparison to the Manchester City boss, who has won 11 in his career so far.

When quizzed by the Daily Mail via TikTok whether Pep Guardiola or Carlo Ancelotti is the better manager, Steve Bruce replied: “Oh, Pep [Guardiola].”

Guardiola trumps Ancelotti, both currently and overall

In our view, Steve Bruce would be correct regardless of whether he felt Pep Guardiola is currently a better manager than Carlo Ancelotti or when looking at both their careers as a whole.

Some might argue that Ancelotti’s superiority to Guardiola in Europe gives him the edge in such a discussion.

But then domestically, the City boss has dominated everywhere he has gone in a way that Carlo Ancelotti has yet to in his career.

Even at AC Milan, the veteran won one league title and in his second spell at Real Madrid, he has won his second league title this campaign.

As for Guardiola, he created dynasties at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City, domestically and in Europe, he reigned supreme at two out of the three clubs.

While currently, Ancelotti could win the double with Real Madrid, Guardiola won the treble last season and he could still win the Premier League and the FA Cup this campaign.

As a result, the Catalan has an edge over the former Chelsea boss.
