Alan Shearer thinks Nottingham Forest have a ‘really exciting’ player, but three clubs want to sign him

Nottingham Forest are all but safe from relegation despite losing to Chelsea and the attention will soon turn to the summer transfer window.

Nuno Espirito Santo went into the clash with Chelsea knowing that even a point would secure Forest’s Premier League status for another year.

Luton Town had lost at West Ham United earlier in the day and Forest just needed a draw to get over the line.

That didn’t happen though as Forest came from a goal down to go 2-1 ahead, only to then fall to a 3-2 defeat.

That was a disappointment but Forest look set to secure Premier League status with Luton needing an incredible swing of results on the final day of the season.

This has been a testing season for everybody connected to Forest, but a third successive season of Premier League football is within touching distance.

Forest certainly need reinforcements this summer but may be faced with potential departures too.

Alan Shearer on Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White

Forest had to sell Brennan Johnson to Tottenham Hotspur last summer, bringing in a hefty fee in the process.

Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules have been a major topic around Forest this season and a sale may be required this summer.

The top name in the mix would, unfortunately, be playmaker Morgan Gibbs-White.

Gibbs-White has bagged five goals and 10 assists in 36 Premier League games this season, continuing to produce moments of magic in a Forest shirt.

The 24-year-old recorded two assists against Chelsea to, once again, show his ability on the big stage.

Pundit Alan Shearer has now praised Gibbs-White whilst speaking on the latest episode of The Rest is Football.

Shearer noted that Gibbs-White was a ‘big investment’ for Forest upon arriving from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2022.

Shearer feels that Gibbs-White is ‘really exciting’ though, hailing him as a ‘really talented’ player who has made a big difference for Forest this season.

“They have got some good players, some really talented players in there,” said Shearer I think Gibbs-White is really exciting, I know he was a big investment but he is a really talented player,” said Shearer.

Interest in Gibbs-White

Players of Gibbs-White’s ability are bound to attract interest.

The transfer window is moving into focus and there are a number of clubs chasing Gibbs-White.

Reports in March suggested that London duo Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are both interested in Gibbs-White.

Forest dealt with Spurs last summer with the Johnson deal and Gibbs-White could reunite with his former City Ground teammate.

Shearer’s beloved Newcastle United have also been heavily linked but it’s unclear just how much the Magpies will be able to spend this summer.

Forest will be looking for a hefty fee for Gibbs-White this summer and any deal will surely top the fee brought in for Johnson last summer.
