'I think': Micah Richards has now changed his mind about who is better - Kyle Walker or Gary Neville

Micah Richards has had his say about which legendary Premier League right-back is superior: Kyle Walker or Gary Neville.

It is difficult to choose between which of the two defenders should be considered the better player, due to how brilliant both are and how much they have won.

Neville notably won eight Premier League trophies, three FA Cups and two Champions League titles for several great Manchester United teams.

But City’s number two has also lifted five Premier League titles, two FA Cups and one Champions League.

Micah Richards changes his mind about Walker-Neville debate

In addition to their respective honours, both players have won the treble.

Some might argue that Kyle Walker is a better defender than Gary Neville but it is undeniable how reliable the former Manchester United captain was at the back.

Similarly, Neville’s attacking prowess may be highlighted as a reason for him to be superior to the Manchester City captain but the latter was excellent going forward in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt.

In March, Micah Richards had given Gary Neville the edge over Kyle Walker.

But now, Richards said on BBC Match of the Day: Top 10 that Walker has surpassed Neville.

“I think he was the best, I think he’s been overtaken now by Kyle Walker. But G.Nev, he’s a legend.”

The Walker-Neville debate can be summed up by one argument

In our view, perhaps why Micah Richards and many others might favour Kyle Walker over Gary Neville is due to one fundamental factor.

The question that might be worth asking is whether Neville was the best in the world at a certain attribute like Walker has been when it comes to his one-v-one defending.

The City legend has mastered a trait that is key for any defender to, let alone a right-back.

For this reason alone, one can perhaps side with Walker over Neville, who was a top player in general but he was not as elite as the former when it comes to a very important characteristic.
