Kevin De Bruyne offered dream exit from Manchester City, new club to make serious play for Belgian midfielder

The long-term future of Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne remains uncertain with just over 12-months left on his current deal.

HITC understands that City have indicated to De Bruyne, who negotiated his last contract himself, that they are ready to talk to him in the summer.

There is no suggestion that De Bruyne is unhappy with life in Manchester, but options away from City – the club he joined in 2015 from Wolfsburg, are emerging.

San Diego looking at Kevin De Bruyne

HITC understands that new American MLS franchise San Diego FC are ready to launch an audacious attempt to land Manchester City superstar De Bruyne.

San Diego are the most expensive franchise ever to join the MLS after an expansion fee of half a billion dollars was paid.

San Diego will start playing in MLS in 2025 in the already built Snapdragon Stadium, and plans are being put in place for their playing staff ahead of their debut campaign.

Owned by the ‘Right to Dream’ Academy, who already run Danish outfit FC Nordsjaelland, they have ambitions along the lines of Inter Miami – who have made a huge splash in the US under David Beckham and his leadership group by bringing Lionel Messi into the league.

HITC understands that San Diego have similar plans to make a big impact and one of the players the want to lead their charge into the MLS is De Bruyne.

De Bruyne’s current contract at City expires in 2025 and the club are open to discussing a new deal this summer, and contact has been made with his camp.

However, De Bruyne turns 34 next year and it remains to be seen if he will remain in England.

De Bruyne has been strongly linked with a move to the Saudi Arabian Pro League, but HITC is told that he would prefer a move to America and San Diego are ready to offer him that opportunity.

To entice him to California, it is believed they would offer him terms that will be comparable to Messi – such is the high regard the Belgian is held.

It is understood that De Bruyne is a big fan of America and if he does move abroad, it is believed that is his preference.

De Bruyne a confirmed admirer of Major League Soccer

Back in 2018, his then agent Patrick De Koster revealed to Belgian TV show MNM – that De Bruyne had a desire to move to America to finish his playing days.

“I think Kevin will end his career in the USA rather than in Belgium,” he said.

“He has already been to America many times on holiday, and he loves the country and its culture.

“He said goodbye to his bachelor life in Las Vegas, and we have often spoken about him ending his career in the MLS.”
