Piers Morgan doubles down on Arsenal title race verdict despite 'lethargic' criticism

Broadcaster and Arsenal fan Piers Morgan has now doubled-down on one claim after criticising the Gunners’ display against Manchester United.

The Premier League title race is now guaranteed to go down to the final game of the season after Arsenal battled to a 1-0 win against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

As things stand, the destiny of the Premier League title is not in Arsenal’s own hands. They are still reliant on Manchester City dropping points to give them any chance of being crowned champions.

As such, all eyes will now be on Tottenham Hotspur who host Manchester City on Tuesday evening. Arsenal icon Paul Merson has claimed that he will get a Spurs tattoo if the Gunners’ bitter North London rivals can get a positive result against the reigning champions.

Of course, no matter what happens elsewhere, Mikel Arteta’s side still need to win their final game of the campaign too. Arsenal will welcome Everton to the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Arteta will want a more cohesive and assured performance from his players against the Toffees than they put on at Old Trafford. Whilst Arsenal fans were happy to revel in their win over Manchester United, it was clearly not the Gunners’ most impressive performance.

Piers Morgan certainly felt that Arsenal were underwhelming in the North West. Writing on X, he described it as a: “Poor, oddly lethargic performance.”

However, his faith that Arsenal will triumph in the title race is undimmed. Morgan has already claimed that Arsenal will be Premier League champions this season. He has now doubled-down on that claim, stating: “I still think we’re going to win it.”

Arsenal make history and progress under Mikel Arteta

Arsenal fans need to keep the faith. The players will need all the support they can get from the Emirates Stadium on Sunday in a fixture where nerves are sure to play a part.

Regardless of how this season ends, though, Arsenal have made remarkable progress and shown their quality. Arsenal broke a club-record against Manchester United as they recorded a 27th Premier League win in a single campaign for the first time in their history.

Arteta has built a young, hungry squad who few would bet against to mount another title challenge next season. There are good reasons to believe that the best is still yet to come for this Arsenal side.
