‘Elite’: Ian Wright claims £27m Arsenal player did something ‘unbelievable’ vs Man United

Ian Wright has lauded one Arsenal player following Sunday’s crucial 1-0 win at Manchester United.

Arsenal haven’t exactly fared well at Old Trafford in recent years, having picked up just one win in Manchester during Mikel Arteta’s tenure.

The Gunners chose an ideal moment to end a run of just one win in 16 trips to United and put the pressure back on Manchester City.

Arteta’s men have often dazzled this season but yesterday they were forced to win ugly at United to keep their Premier League title hopes on track.

Leandro Trossard’s effort in the 20th minute proved to be enough for Arsenal after a lapse in concentration from United star Casemiro.

The Belgian has a habit of popping up with crucial goals for the Gunners and his latest contribution has impressed Ian Wright.

Wright praises Leandro Trossard after Arsenal beat Man United

Trossard’s first-half effort earned Arsenal a crucial three points after United were undone by one long ball from Ben White.

Casemiro failed to step up with the rest of his backline, which led to Kai Havertz getting in down the right-hand side.

There was still plenty left to do for the German though and Trossard got across Aaron Wan-Bissaka to provide his teammate with an option.

Speaking on Wrighty’s House, Wright lauded Trossard for his ‘unbelievable’ movement for the goal.

He said: “The level of Trossard’s arrival was elite to the point he sorted his feet out by the time he got there, he picked the pockets and he has gone there even before they know they are done.

“He is in, bang, goal, gone. His movement to get in front of Wan-Bissaka so that he can go and finish that ball was unbelievable. No wonder he is one of our top scorers and best finisher.”

Trossard’s stats for Arsenal this season

Trossard has emerged as Arteta’s preferred option off the left-hand side this term, with Gabriel Martinelli enduring a difficult campaign.

The 29-year-old has proven to be an astute signing for the Gunners after arriving for a £27 million fee from Brighton back in January last year.

This season, the Belgian has netted 17 goals in all competitions while registering two assists.

Bukayo Saka has already lauded Trossard as an intelligent player and his versatility has also been vital for Arteta over the past 18 months.
