Simon Jordan says a Chelsea player has 'gone to a different level' in the last six weeks

Simon Jordon has been impressed with a Chelsea player in the last six weeks and says that he’s ‘gone to a different level’.

Chelsea have endured a rocky season and are evidently in the transitional phase under the stewardship of Mauricio Pochettino.

For a time, it looked as though they’d finish in mid-table but over the last few weeks, they’ve really turned the screw, winning three games on the bounce.

Jordan has been particularly impressed with one player, who has changed his mind.

Simon Jordan says Cole Palmer has gone up a level recently

Jordan, speaking on talkSPORT’s YouTube channel, admitted that he had reservations about Cole Palmer but of late he’s gone up a level.

Graeme Souness: “If you were going tomorrow (to the EUROs), if this weekend you were picking a group of players, Cole Palmer might be one of the first names on the team sheet if you’re Southgate.”

Jordan added: “I kind of had reservations about him initially because I thought there’s no way that Guardiola lets him go because he can’t manage the kid’s expectations.

“And then I’ve seen in the last six weeks an acceleration in Cole Palmer.

“I thought he was doing well but in recent performances, he’s gone to a different level.”

Cole Palmer could be talismanic for England this summer

As Souness alluded to, Palmer is probably one of the first names on the team sheet for England at the moment and could play a talismanic role for Southgate.

The Three Lions boss has to find a way to fit him into his favoured role, number 10, though that’s where Jude Bellingham has excelled at Real Madrid.

So it’s not an easy task for Southgate but one he must get right.
