'My main' – Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho both agree on which Man Utd star they want to be stuck with on desert island

Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo were both in agreement over which Manchester United star they would want alongside them on a desert island.

The two aforementioned Manchester United players have both impressed in the current Premier League campaign under manager Erik ten Hag.

Kobbie Mainoo has had a remarkable breakout season at Old Trafford and established himself as a key midfield figure in the Red Devils’ first team.

The 19-year-old United midfielder’s impressive performances for the Red Devils even led to his senior call-up for the England national team back in March.

Alejandro Garnacho, who came through the United youth academy alongside Mainoo, has shown moments of brilliance for the Red Devils this season.

The 19-year-old Spain-born winger has made 47 appearances across all competitions and Garnacho has scored nine times and registered five assists.

Garnacho and Mainoo pick same Man Utd star

Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo took part in an interview with Chinese outlet iQiyi Sports and were asked about who they would take to a stranded island.

Mainoo scribbled down a name immediately while Garnacho hesitated with his pick, with the United and England midfielder then making a U-turn on his decision.

“I don’t know. Actually, I am going to change my answer,” he said.

Garnacho and Mainoo then revealed their pick for the question, with the two United stars picking none other than Red Devils defender Lisandro Martinez.

Responding to their reveal, the reporter replied: “Licha is really popular, huh?”

Garnacho revealed that his pick was based on them speaking the same language, with the two players playing together at club level and on the international stage.

“My main reason is because we speak the same language, so this is the most important [thing],” he said.

Mainoo, on the other hand, said that Lisandro Martinez would be the ideal huntsman and pointed to his nickname of the ‘Butcher.’

“For me, I think he would just hunt for food,” he added.

“Because he’s the ‘Butcher,’ that’s the main reason. He would just want to talk but he would want to survive!”

Ten Hag’s update on Man Utd star Martinez

Martinez’s absence from the first-team squad has been felt as the 26-year-old Argentine defender recovers on the sideline from injury.

The former Ajax star, who arrived at Old Trafford in 2022, was ruled out of action last month after he suffered a calf strain in training.

Martinez’s season at United has been hindered by injuries, having previously been on the sideline due to a knee injury.

Speaking on Martinez last week, United manager Erik ten Hag insisted that the 2022 World Cup winner has been itching to return to action for the Red Devils.

“He is desperate to play, he misses so much,” the Ten Hag said.

“The team missed him and he wants to play.

“But he had three injuries across the season and now he’s almost there, so injury-free, so he’s in the end of the healing process and now he has to get back into team training, into matches.

“I will never do a gamble with a player. Never.

“It’s about them, it’s about their futures. That’s the most important, about their careers. I have to take responsibility for it.

“Of course, the club is the most important but the safety from the player, the health of the player, I think that is also always a higher level.”
