Opinion: Signing striker with 112 career goals for £21m a no brainer after fresh Lopetegui claim

Julen Lopetegui is all set to replace David Moyes as the new West Ham United manager, and signing Youssef En-Nesyri may well be his first port of call.

West Ham owners have decided to appoint Julen Lopetegui as the new manager, and Youssef En-Nesyri could be set to follow his former boss to the club.

The 26-year-old Sevilla hitman has been on the Hammers radar for over three years now, after David Moyes tried to sign the centre-forward in January 2021.

West Ham never managed to get a deal for En-Nesyri over the line but now, we seemingly have a golden opportunity to finally seal a move to sign him.

Lopetegui is planning a complete reshuffle at the London Stadium this summer, with numerous new signings on his agenda.

Signing a top-class striker will be vital to our hopes of achieving any kind of success under Lopetegui.

Now the door seems wide open for the Spaniard to bring his former player to the London Stadium…

West Ham have golden chance to sign Youssef En-Nesyri

So, there are seemingly no excuses not to sign the Moroccan in the summer transfer window.

According to a report from Vamos Mi Sevilla, Lopetegui ‘seriously’ wants to sign Youssef En-Nesyri from Sevilla this summer.

The 26-year-old centre-forward could be available for as little as £21 million, and Lopetegui’s presence at the London Stadium will greatly improve our chances of signing him.

The thing that really caught my eye from the report though was the fact that Lopetegui’s mere presence at the London Stadium will make us hot favourites to sign En-Nesyri.

The Sevilla striker is said to be the 57-year-old Spaniard’s primary transfer target as well.

I think that the Morocco international would actually be perfect for us.

He is hard working, runs the channels, is exceptional in the air and possesses impressive technical ability.

En-Nesyri has bagged 72 goals in 193 appearances for Sevilla (Transfermarkt) – better than a goal every three games.

He has scored 112 goals for club and country to his name – a very decent return considering that he’s only 26.

And if West Ham manage to sign Youssef En-Nesyri this summer, I’ll be absolutely delighted, especially for just £21 million.
