Mauricio Pochettino drops Chelsea player after his best performance in ages: Predicted XI vs Brighton

Chelsea can almost secure their place in Europe for next season with a positive result against Brighton on Wednesday.

Three wins in a row has seen them climb to seventh in the table with two games to go, while Europa League is a realistic possibility if other results start to go their way.

Mauricio Pochettino saw a different side to his team on Saturday, as they fought back late on to win 3-2 against Nottingham Forest.

But will the manager look to tinker? Here’s The Chelsea Chronicle’s predicted XI for the trip to Brighton on Wednesday.

Chelsea predicted XI vs Brighton

Djordje Petrovic has retained his place as the starting goalkeeper for the entirty of 2024, and there will be no change there for the penultimate game of the season.

Right-back poses a real conundrum for Mauricio Pochettino, but we are backing Malo Gusto to return to the starting side, with Reece James ready off the bench.

Trevoh Chalobah has impressed out of position recently on the right, but will move back to the middle on Wednesday.

He will be partnered byBenoit Badiashile, allowing Thiago Silva a rest before his final game for the club at the weekend.

On the left, Marc Cucurella will look to continue his good form helping in the middle by inverting.

Midfield

Moises Caicedo was imperious again at the weekend, as he continues his strong end to the campaign with another outing against his former side.

He will again be joined by Conor Gallagher, who could well still be playing for his future at Stamford Bridge.

Ahead of them, Cole Palmer will look to continue to orchestrate proceedings, even if he is not finding the net quite as regularly.

Attack

Noni Madueke was far from his best against Forest, but his form in the last few weeks will see him continue in the starting side.

Down the left, Mykhailo Mudryk will drop to the bench despite scoring at the weekend, and he will be replaced by Christopher Nkunku.

Up front, Nicolas Jackson will look to add to his 14 Premier League goals so far this season.
