Report: Scout has now told Arsenal to sign 21-year-old Man City loanee in the summer

It has been reported that Arsenal scout Paulo Xavier has instructed the club to sign a certain Manchester City loanee.

In the summer of 2022, City sold the likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus to the Gunners and at the time, the deals looked like the best possible outcomes for all parties involved.

However, the pair helped Arsenal challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title last season.

Arsenal scout tells club to sign Man City loanee

Before the season when Pep Guardiola’s men sold Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus to Mikel Arteta’s side, City won the league while Arsenal finished fifth.

But this campaign, both teams are guaranteed to fight for the title on the penultimate day of the campaign as the gap between the sides has closed.

As a result, one would be surprised if the Sky Blues engaged in any such transfer dealings with Arteta and Co. anytime soon.

However, as per a report by Football Transfers, chief scout Paulo Xavier has told Arsenal to seriously consider signing Yan Couto in the summer.

It has also been mentioned that Arsenal are looking for a backup right-back and they view Couto, 21, who is on loan at Girona as the perfect candidate to fulfil that role in their squad.

The Gunners’ transfer strategy this summer is believed to be geared towards youth development.

Both Pablo Xavier and Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar are interested in bringing Yan Couto to the Emirates Stadium.

The report states that the North London side have been interested in signing the youngster since January 2020.

On Friday, it was claimed that Manchester City were prepared to sell the Brazilian for a fee of £40 million.

Man City should sell Yan Couto to a foreign club instead

In our view, if Manchester City are open to selling Yan Couto, it would be more sensible to sell him to a foreign club rather than Arsenal.

The highly-rated defender admitted in April that he would fancy a move to Real Madrid.

If Los Blancos or another foreign club come in for Couto and City are keen on selling Couto, it would be far more sensible to let a team outside England’s crème-de-la-crème sign him.

Arsenal are set to be Manchester City’s biggest challengers for the Premier League title next season as well and as a result, it would be surprising if they strengthened their domestic rivals.
