'I'm even' – Man Utd star couldn't resist finally sharing one fact that 'everyone' has been wrong about, his smile says it all

Manchester United and England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo could not hold back his excitement in ending one of the biggest myths about his football career so far.

Kobbie Mainoo has impressed at Old Trafford in the current Premier League campaign after enjoying a superb breakout season at Manchester United.

The 19-year-old United star has become a regular starter under manager Erik ten Hag and firmly established himself as a pivotal midfield figure at the club.

Mainoo has earned high praise for his performances this season, including from the likes of United legends Roy Keane and Rio Ferdinand and Arsenal hero Ian Wright.

The Stockport-born player’s impressive season at Old Trafford even led to his first senior call-up for the England squad during the March international break.

United midfielder Mainoo showed his brilliance in an England shirt in March, including on his first start in the 2-2 friendly draw against Belgium at Wembley.

Man Utd star Mainoo settles myth around him

Kobbie Mainoo recently sat down for an interview with Chinese outlet iQiyi Sports alongside Manchester United teammate Alejandro Garnacho.

During the interview, the England international was asked if there was one fact about himself that fans didn’t know but he would be keen for them to know.

Mainoo had a cheeky smile on his face during his light-bulb moment, with the United star immediately scribbling his answer down on the notepad in front of him.

The Three Lions and United midfielder then flipped his board around to show his true height after Mainoo claimed that “everyone” thinks he is 5ft 9in.

Mainoo, who said that he is incorrectly listed as 5ft 9in on EA Sports FC, revealed that he is actually 6ft 4in.

“Everyone thinks I’m five foot nine. I’m six foot four. Everyone needs to stop thinking I’m five foot nine,” he said.

Mainoo added: “I’m even [five foot nine] on FIFA [now known as EA Sports FC] as well […].”

Mainoo’s superb spell with United in the Red Devils’ lacklustre campaign even caught the eye of Juan Mata.

Former United star Juan Mata, who is currently a free agent, even revealed that club captain Bruno Fernandes has spoken highly of the “humble” Mainoo.

“I’m really impressed with Kobbie,” he told MUTV this month, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“Of course, I haven’t seen much of him before, but he looks like he’s been playing for the club for longer than [he has].

“[In his] first games for United, he already looks so mature. He looks like a player. With the ball, without the ball [he’s] focused. [He’s got a] bright future ahead.

“Bruno [Fernandes] tells me he’s also a great kid. He listens. He wants to learn. He’s humble. So, he has everything to succeed.”
