Oliver Glasner has made a stunning start to life as Crystal Palace manager, so much so that German giants Bayern Munich have come calling.
From his first 12 games – Glasner has seen his side win half of the games, including a win at Anfield over the then title chasing Liverpool.
Having only arrived in the Premier League three months ago, few could have seen what was to come from the Bundesliga.
Oliver Glasner not interested in Bayern Munich
Crystal Palace sources have now confirmed to TBR Football that they rejected an approach from Bayern Munich for their boss Oliver Glasner.
TBR understands that Palace showed no desire to talk to Bayern who offered to pay £15million in compensation to land the Austrian – who only joined the club in February. Previously he had been in charge of Eintracht Frankfurt, but let them last summer.
We are told that Glasner was informed by Palace that Bayern had made an approach but that they had no intention of accepting – but we are told he wanted to make it clear he had not prompted any approach nor did he welcome it.
With their failure to land Glasner – this is now the fourth manager to have turned them down in recent months after Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick all turned down the chance to succeed Thomas Tuchel.
Thomas Tuchel could get chance to remain in charge at Bayern
Bayern announced Tuchel would be leaving earlier in the year after a poor run of form which resulted in them missing out on the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen, whilst there was also some issues within the club with the board and squad.
However, Now we understand the board are considering keeping him – some of the squad want him to stay, but there are some leading figures who are not convinced by him.
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl is one of those believed to be keen on keeping Tuchel, but he has been quick to attack the media this week over the criticism the club have been getting over their protracted head coach search.
“There’s a lot of noise, not only from you [the media], but also from the protagonists themselves – the other party in particular has sometimes been very public about it,” he told Bild.
“For me the way things work is different. Normally people speak behind closed doors. You either reach an agreement or you don’t and you go separate ways. That doesn’t make it any easier.”
