Tampa Police Release Intense Video Of Deadly SoHo Shooting

TAMPA, Fla. \- Tampa Police released a new video that shows the moments before a deadly shooting in the 500 block of S. Howard Ave.

On May 12, 2024, shortly before 3:00 a.m., Tampa Police officers on patrol in SoHo heard shots fired at a nearby parking lot and immediately responded.

Kenneth Washington, 28, and Kevon Christmas, 23. died from their injuries as a result of the shooting.

Based on the investigation, detectives determined that the altercation stemmed from an ongoing dispute between two rival neighborhood groups and was not random.

Detectives are still working to identify the role of the third shooting victim, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and determine if there were any other shooters involved.

"The overall safety of the community is our top priority," said Chief Lee Bercaw. Working in collaboration with our community is the best way we can ensure everyone is safe."

Tampa Police will also be working closely with residents and businesses in SoHo to address any concerns that arise at any time of the day.
