'That was' – Man Utd star names his 'special' memory and 'favourite' moment at Old Trafford, one was 'top feeling' for him

Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has revealed a “special” memory and his “favourite” moment in his fledgling Old Trafford career so far.

Rasmus Hojlund arrived at Old Trafford last summer after Manchester United signed him in a deal worth £72m from Serie A side Atalanta.

The 21-year-old Danish forward impressed in the Champions League earlier this season, with Hojlund scoring five times in six appearances for the Red Devils.

However, Hojlund initially struggled in the Premier League and the United star failed to find the back of the net in his first 14 league matches for the Red Devils.

The Denmark international broke his Premier League goalscoring drought before the end of 2023, with Hojlund easing some of the pressure placed on his shoulders.

Hojlund on special and favourite Man Utd moments

Rasmus Hojlund entered into a rich vein of form at the start of 2024 and made his presence felt in the final third for Manchester United.

The Denmark striker scored in five consecutive Premier League matches for United, including picking up two assists during his scintillating run of form.

Hojlund’s run of form came to an end after he picked up an injury in late February, but the former Atalanta man has since returned from his spell on the sideline.

However, the United star only managed to score once in seven Premier League matches ahead of the Red Devils’ match against Arsenal on Sunday.

Speaking to United Review, Hojlund revealed his “special” memory at Old Trafford came when he scored against Galatasaray in the Champions League.

“My first goal here, against Galatasaray, and then the second after that [in the same game],” he said, as per Manchester United’s official website.

“We were 2-1 up at the time and I scored at the Stretford End. That was very special for me.”

Despite his “special” memory against Galatasaray, Hojlund admitted his favourite moment was scoring his winner against Aston Villa in a 3-2 comeback win.

“But my favourite is the Villa one [the 3-2 win on Boxing Day]. We won the game, and it was my first Premier League goal,” he said.

“It’s a top feeling. Hopefully, there’s many more goals to come.”

Hojlund on his Man Utd debut

Hojlund’s initial United debut was delayed after the Red Devils striker arrived at the club with an injury and required time for his recovery.

However, the Danish forward made his debut for United after he came off the bench in his side’s 3-1 Premier League defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates last September.

“Obviously that was against Arsenal as well, and it was a big game. I was coming on and it was a draw,” Hojlund said.

“I hoped I could get on and get a winner, of course. Playing in an amazing away stadium and also getting my debut for Manchester United was very, very special for me.

“I was a little bit nervous and when I saw my name with 11 on the back [in the dressing room], I was very excited. There’s been some great players who’ve played in that shirt.”
