US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit Ukraine this week. In particular, the American official will come to Kyiv, according to Politico.

The information about Blinken's upcoming visit to Ukraine was reported to Western media by “three people familiar with the matter”.

It is noted that the exact route of the US Secretary of State is still unknown, but it is likely that on Tuesday and Wednesday, security services will block roads in the Ukrainian capital for a while.

"The people were granted anonymity to preview plans that haven’t been made public," Politico reports.

The agency adds that the US State Department did not respond to requests for comment from media representatives.

Blinken's previous visit

During his previous visit in September of last year, US Secretary of State Blinken held meetings with top Ukrainian politicians.

As State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller explained, Blinken's visit to Ukraine on September 6, 2023, also aimed to demonstrate US commitment to Ukraine's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and democracy in the face of Russian aggression. Additionally, the announcement of another military aid package was discussed.
