'A bit nuts': John McGinn claims one Aston Villa ace is actually 'a nightmare' to play with after Liverpool

Aston Villa endured a thrilling night at Villa Park against Liverpool on Monday evening, seeing John McGinn share an interesting insight into one of his teammates.

It was a night of late action at Villa Park on Monday, as Aston Villa dramatically drew 3-3 with Liverpool in the penultimate game of the Premier League season.

The hosts went 1-0 down after just two minutes courtesy of an Emi Martinez own goal, seeing the Argentine earn an unwanted record for his error.

Liverpool were 3-1 up in the 85th minute until Jhon Duran took it upon himself to earn his side a point, scoring two goals in three minutes for the Villans, seeing him crowned the man of the moment.

The Colombian made seven touches on the ball during his 11-minute cameo, scoring twice to earn a crucial point in the race for fourth place.

After the game, club captain John McGinn was full of praise for the 20-year-old Villa sensation although, admitted that his teammate isn’t the easiest to play with.

John McGinn calls Jhon Duran ‘nuts’ after Liverpool draw

Speaking to Sky Sports in reaction to the late thriller at Villa Park, McGinn was quick to comment on the form of Duran in the game, branding the youngster ‘nuts’ for his approach to play.

“Big Jhon is a bit nuts. He is a nightmare sometimes to have in your team, but he has got moments of quality.

“The first one was a top finish, and we need to try to keep his feet on the ground in the next couple of days.”

McGinn’s comments may not come as a shock to those who have watched Duran intensely throughout this season, as the Colombian brings an excitable feel to his game, as seen in the dying embers against Liverpool.

Jhon Duran was what Unai Emery needed against Liverpool

Having recorded 19 shots on goal and an expected goal tally of 3.36xG, via Sofascore, Villa were pressing Liverpool’s buttons throughout the fixture to little reward.

That was until Duran entered the field, bringing his ‘erratic entertainer’ energy, as he was once described by journalist Jacob Tanswell.

With one game remaining, it would be expected that Emery may consider handing the 20-year-old a start against Crystal Palace, with there not being much more that the Colombian could have achieved in his 11 minutes against the Reds.

It was a night that was full of drama and a night that needed a hero to march Villa over the finish line with a point, a night that was made for players as compelling as young Jhon Duran.
