'Out of this world': Jamie Carragher says one Liverpool player reminded him of Cristiano Ronaldo last night

Jamie Carragher says what one Liverpool player did against Aston Villa reminded him of Cristiano Ronaldo on Monday night.

Liverpool’s draw against Aston Villa was full throttle and full of entertainment on Monday night. The Reds had taken a convincing lead, but in the end the home side found their way back.

Away from the six goals, there were also plenty of VAR reviews to keep fans glued to their screens. In the end, the draw was probably the deserved result.

Villa came fighting back once they had conceded the two goal deficit and did really well to come back into the game.

Liverpool, on the other hand, looked a little rugged and disorientated after a flurry of changes made by Jurgen Klopp.

Jamie Carragher on how Jarell Quansah reminded him of Cristiano Ronaldo

One of the silver linings to take from the game will be Jarell Quansah’s performance. The Liverpool centre-back has been a revelation all season.

Against Villa, despite conceding three goals, Quansah still put in a strong performance. None of the goals were directly his fault in all fairness, and he also got himself on the scoresheet.

Quansah’s header was his first goal in the Premier League and his fifth goal contribution for Liverpool in total this season. Only Virgil van Dijk has more with six out of Liverpool’s centre-backs in this current campaign.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Jamie Carragher was in awe of Quansah’s talent and explained how his goal reminded him of Cristiano Ronaldo.

“This header is absolutely out of this world,” Carragher said.

“He is trying to hold his run because of the offside trap but he gets up so high and he’s actually ahead of the ball.

“His body position when the ball is in the air, it reminds me a little bit, I’ve seen Ronaldo score these type of headers where he gets up so early and he’s almost in the air waiting for the ball and as it comes across, I mean look how high his knees are off the ground.”
