Report: Two of the Premier League's top six in talks to sign 'wonderful' £25m Leeds target

Leeds United are still reportedly interested in signing a Denmark international this summer but his club are already in talks with two of the Premier League’s top six clubs.

Leeds will be busy this summer whether the club are promoted back to the Premier League or are forced to compete in the Championship for another season and a no.10 will be at the top of the agenda.

Daniel Farke was linked with plenty last summer, getting Nadiem Amiri to travel to Elland Road for talks but a move fell through. The Germany international has since spoken about his failed move to Leeds.

Captain of our current play-off opponents Norwich City, Kenny McLean, was also a target for Farke as the German manager eyed a reunion. Celtic playmaker Matt O’Riley was the subject of a £10m Leeds offer.

O’Riley has since gone on to win Celtic’s Player of the Season award after having a hand in 33 goals and assists during 2023-24, scoring in the 2-1 win over Rangers on Saturday as Celtic close in on the title.

Now, Danish outlet Tipsbladet have an update on the future of O’Riley with a move to the Premier League now expected for the former MK Dons and Fulham left-footer.

Leeds are said to be interested in a move to sign O’Riley, again

The attacking midfielder was of course an option for Leeds last summer but after the season he has had, it was unclear if Leeds were expected to reignite any interest in the Celtic star come the summer window.

But reports have stated that if Leeds are promoted to the Premier League and win the play-offs, the chances are that Leeds will try again for O’Riley who is now rated at north of a whopping £25m fee.

Described as “wonderful” by Brendan Rodgers, Leeds will make a move for O’Riley but the chances are that he has already outgrown the Yorkshire club even if Leeds do get promoted at the first attempt.

Danish reports now deliver O’Riley update ahead of summer

Tipsbladet now report that Celtic are already in talks with two of the Premier League’s top six ahead of the summer about a potential exit for the playmaker, though the two clubs in question are unnamed.

Whether O’Riley is tempted to dive into the Premier League head on with one of the league’s biggest clubs and risk his regular game time, remains to be seen after starting week in week out at Celtic.

What is clear is that it looks as if Leeds are now being outgunned by the Premier League’s heavyweights before they might even have a chance, and The Whites might not even get themselves promoted.
