Heart and Hand report 'strongly linked' powerhouse set for £3m Ibrox move, confirmation could be imminent

The last few days haven’t been great for Rangers fans with the Scottish Premiership title all but out of Philippe Clement’s reach.

An injury list now extends to a full team’s worth of players missing for the manager and the highlight has been confirmation that images of a leaked strip aren’t real.

That was until news of an imminent transfer were revealed by Heart and Hand’s David Edgar with Rangers looking to provide the type of players that can win Philippe Clement the league.

Rangers signing of Jose Cordoba imminent claims Heart and Hand

The Gers boss wants a squad that is younger, more dynamic and better equipped to deal with the rigours of a 55-60 game long season.

He also wants them to be fit enough and robust enough to deal with a style of play that is intense and high energy.

Speaking as part of the buildup to the dead rubber with Dundee, the Belgian is clear with what business needs to be done:

“We need to find a good balance in that and doing smart things for now but also for the future of the club to bring profiles in, like Diomande is proving now week after week, that can be assets for the future.

“We also need to get experience in, if experience is leaving the building. We need to balance.”

Jose Cordoba could be the a sign of things to come

It is a policy that is already well under way with the signing of Jose Cordoba said to be imminent, according to Edgar:

“It looks as though they are going to be confirming that hopefully soon, according to reports in Bulgaria.

“Strongly linked to move to the club and, I’ve heard from people I believe that they saw him at the game at Ibrox last week.

“He was left out for Levski’s match at the weekend, he was cleared as fully fit because he was in the squad but the manager didn’t include him.

“It’s said that the fee will be £3m for Cordoba and he would be the first to arrive permanently in the summer.”

The irony is, Ben Davies was outstanding against Celtic, but it looks like his replacement could be the first signing through the door.

Jose Cordoba is young, athletic, with the potential to improve and be sold at a profit given his transfer fee..

With Rangers not looking like they will qualify for the Champions League automatically, getting new players in as quickly as possible will be essential.

The manager needs time to work with them and to bed them into a club in transition.

With over £30m at stake, not backing the manager until it is too late could prove extremely costly.

Thankfully, it looks like Nils Koppen’s plan is already well under way.
