Rangers quash Castore kit leak rumours

The relationship between Rangers fans and Castore has always been a fractious one.

Initially, the fledgling sportswear firm struggled to keep up with demand which led to mistakes in products being sold and a shortage of stock.

It wasn’t a great start to the five-year contract.

This time, when news of a kit leak broke, for once, fans united.

A bizarre orange number that looked set to be added to the 2024/25 collection appeared on Footy Headlines and it was a far cry from previous efforts of the same colour.

Thankfully, the club, via Four Lads Had a Dream has confirmed that the rumour is “completely made up”.

David Edgar on the Heart and Hand Daily Update for 13th May 2024 also backed up the report from Stevie Clifford, so it looks like Castore will have to go back to the drawing board.

There is that train of thought floating about that the kit was deliberately leaked to gauge fan opinion before deciding that they had to abort.

Edgar made a good point on Heart and Hand too in that consensus from fans at the engagement meetings has split opinion.

Young fans want to see more adventurous strips.

Older fans want something more traditional.

Castore can’t please everyone

The kits for 2023/24 have had something for everyone.

A solid home/away combination was followed with a take on an old classic and something a little more, well, adventurous.

Unfortunately for Rangers, the current mood around the club means that they could announce a new mega-bucks deal with Nike or Adidas and it would still struggle to raise a smile.

As the fan engagement events prove though, it is impossible to please everybody.

This is only made harder when the team on the pitch isn’t being successful either.

The only way to please everyone is to win trophies, regardless of what kit they are wearing.
