'Whatever else happens': BBC pundit urges Chelsea to keep hold of 'talented' player at all costs

Chelsea have a lot of young and talented players in their squad.

Cole Palmer, Malo Gusto and Noni Madueke are just a few names that come to mind.

Palmer is obviously the standout, but the likes of Gusto and Madueke have also done well this season. The latter, of late, has really been good.

For example, he scored and assisted in Chelsea‘s last home match, a 5-0 win against West Ham United.

It would not be a surprise to see some of these young Chelsea players attract interest from other clubs.

The player Chelsea have now been told to keep hold of

Following their victory over West Ham, Chelsea travelled to the City Ground to take on Nottingham Forest.

They also took all three points from that encounter, winning 3-2, and Garth Crooks named Palmer in his BBC Sport Team of the Week following his assist for Mykhailo Mudryk’s goal.

The former Tottenham Hotspur player has urged Chelsea to keep hold of him.

In his Team of the Week column, he said: “With Reece James fit again, and producing quality balls for strikers like Nicolas Jackson to finish, anything is now possible for this young aspiring team.

“Whatever else happens they must keep Palmer at Stamford Bridge.”

Cole Palmer unsellable

Right now, if someone did come knocking for Palmer, Chelsea should not even consider the idea of selling him.

The 22-year-old has easily been their best player this term, winning both the Chelsea Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season awards.

In the 43 appearances Palmer has made for Chelsea, he has come up with 38 goal contributions. That is going to be impossible for the club to replace.

Gary Lineker recently hailed the England international as an “exceptionally talented” player and he has proven just that in the current campaign. While there has been nothing to suggest that they would, Chelsea would be mad to sell Palmer.
