'He has been good': Micah Richards and Gary Lineker rave about Nottingham Forest star after Saturday

Nottingham Forest can finally start looking forward to life as a Premier League club once again next season.

A 3-2 defeat to Chelsea came after Luton and Burnley both lost with the latter relegated and the former needing a huge goal swing on the final day.

Despite this season being largely drab, there have been some positives from aForest perspective.

A number of players have proved to be extremely good signings, with the club’s permanent recruitment of outfield players largely good.

Now, Gary Lineker and Micah Richards have praised one of the Reds’ squad for a good campaign at the City Ground.

Gary Lineker and Micah Richards on Ola Aina

The defender was a remarkable piece of business from a Forest perspective, signing on a free transfer from Torino last summer.

He’s held don’t the left-back slot this season when he’s not been injured and has made a real impact under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Lineker has shared that he’s extremely impressed with one element of his game – whilst Richards has agreed with his fellow pundit.

Richards said on The Rest is Football podcast: “I’ve got to give a shout-out to Ola Aina. I think he’s been good this season.”

Lineker concurred, saying: “Is Aina the one with the long throw? I haven’t seen a throw that long in ages. He throws it to the far post.”

Aina is one of the signings of the season at Forest

Anthony Elanga for £15 million, Callum Hudson-Odoi for £3 million and Murillo for just over £10 million are all good shouts for this category when it comes to the awards night.

However, Aina should have his name in the mix after his Forest performances too.

The player picked up an injury at the African Cup of Nations but since returning to action, he’s helped Forest get over the line in the end.

He’s enjoyed a strong relationship with Hudson-Odoi down the Forest left and hopefully, Aina will see his contract extended by the club.

Aina, 27, has made 22 appearances for Forest and the hope will be that he can grow as a player should he get the chance to remain at the club.

Forest are often criticised from outsiders for their recruitment but Aina offers proof that with the right people in place, good players can be added.
