EXCLUSIVE: Following the news Dorit and Paul ‘PK’ Kemsley are splitting up, a Break-up Coach tells Reality Tidbit how The Real Housewives star “had to come clean” to “maintain her spot” on the show.
Being a Bravo star doesn’t appear to always be the easiest thing in the world. Yes, you’re on track for fame and fortune, but when it comes to your personal life, privacy seemingly goes out the window. Dorit Kemsley has been a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member since 2016. Fans have been getting to know Dorit and PK for the past eight years. So, naturally they’re curious to know more about their break-up.
Dorit and PK’s split
On May 9, Dorit took to Instagram to share a statement explaining how she and PK are taking some time away from one another.
She speaks of how the couple “has been subject to a lot of speculation” when it comes to their marriage.
Dorit continues: “We have had our struggles over the last few years,” adding how they “continue to work through them as two people who love each other and share two amazing children…”
She explains how she and PK are separating in a bid to “safe guard” their “deep friendship” and keep things “harmonious” for their kids.
‘You can tell Dorit was going through it’
Since Dorit and PK shared they’re set to spend some time apart, many Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fans have suggested Dorit is using the split as a “storyline.”
One person tweeted via X (Twitter): “Clearly Dorit and PK are setting up their fake divorce for a storyline next season.”
Giving her take to Reality Tidbit, Break-up and Relationship Coach Trina Leckie explains: “Dorit has the personality where she would much rather make it seem as though her relationship is going strong. Last season was the first time she revealed some cracks in it.
“Could that have been for storyline? I believe she shared all of that because she did need some storyline, although she was not creating it. You could tell it was very much what she was going through with PK.”
Trina continues: “That said, women in these positions often like to expose their husbands in this way on the show to gain support, so there is that side of it as well. They usually also hope their husbands will watch the show back, feel bad about their behavior, and be motivated to change. PK does not have that type of personality though. He is much more of a straight shooter vs coddler.
“Allegedly, Dorit had to ‘come clean,’ so to speak, in order to maintain her spot on the show. That was her motivation to come forward with the truth. Part of being on a ‘reality show’ is to show your true self, so it wouldn’t be fair to the other cast mates if she was able to keep up with some sort of facade.”
Break-up scenes ‘won’t be volatile’
Predicting how Dorit and PK’s split is likely to play out on screen, author of Don’t Be Desperate, Trina, tells Reality Tidbit she doesn’t think it will be “volatile.”
She said: “I feel Dorit will lean towards saying they need time to figure things out vs coming out in full force. It definitely won’t be volatile.
“It will likely be more of a ‘we’ve grown apart and he doesn’t make me feel heard’ type of thing. ‘We want the best for our children, regardless…’.”
