Mykhailo Mudryk names 'unbelievable' Chelsea teammate as the toughest defender he's come up against

Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk has named one of his current teammates as the toughest defender he’s ever faced.

Mykhailo Mudryk, 23, is usually a real handful for defences with his lightning speed and directness.

The left-winger’s certainly played against some elite defenders in his career already, which has been met with mixed results.

The Chelsea Chronicle still views Mudryk as a very raw attacker that needs to improve a considerable amount. He’s up to seven goals across all competitions after scoring last time out versus Nottingham Forest, though.

Mykhailo Mudryk calls Chelsea star toughest opponent

Interestingly, Mudryk has named Chelsea teammate Reece James as his hardest opponent.

It’s incredible practice for a wide man like Mudryk to have the opportunity to train against top right-back James and Malo Gusto every day in training at Cobham.

Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino described James as an “unbelievable” player earlier in the season via beIN SPORTS Asia. It’s what makes the 24-year-old’s return from injury a big boost for everyone around Stamford Bridge.

Mudryk answered via Instagram on Monday when asked his toughest opponent.

Reece James admired by lots of players

In fairness, Mudryk’s the latest in the long line of players to acknowledge just how good James actually is.

Speaking via Sky Sports Premier League last Sunday, Cole Palmer praised James and his impact following his latest return from injury.

Elsewhere, Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli previously named James as the toughest opponent he’s faced via the Champions League TikTok page.

Also, Manchester City’s Phil Foden called James his toughest ever opponent at full-back via Olivia Buzaglo X channel.
