Tim Howard shares whether he thinks Nuno Espirito Santo is right for Nottingham Forest

Tim Howard has now shared whether he thinks Nuno Espirito Santo is the right head coach for Nottingham Forest.

The Reds are practically safe for another season and would need a mathematical miracle against them to be relegated.

Forest lost 3-2 on Saturday to Chelsea but defeats for Burnley and Luton practically ended the relegation scrap.

Now, plans will start to be put into place for next season and Espirito Santo will likely see his own future come under scrutiny.

Tim Howard delivers verdict on Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo

In fairness to Espirito Santo, he’s been dealt some tricky cards during his time at the City Ground.

After arriving he oversaw two wins from three games but just as things were looking up, several players headed off to the African Cup of Nations.

There have also been a number of bad decisions for Forest to contend with and it’s not been a particularly enjoyable season.

Nonetheless, Evangelos Marinakis is ambitious and perhaps the role of Espirito Santo will be reviewed in the summer.

Howard believes that’s the right thing to do and he’s suggested that the jury might still be out on the head coach.

He toldThe 2 Robbies Podcast: “They’ve got to sort themselves out.

“Whether Nuno is the right manager, I’m not sure, I think it’s five wins in 20. I know the points deduction hasn’t helped and all the refereeing decisions haven’t helped.

“They just need to settle down, there’s so much stuff happening that’s nothing to do with football and it’s not ideal.”

Forest have big call to make ahead of next season

It’s probably not unfair to say that Espirito Santo could have too many complaints if he was sacked by Forest this summer.

That said, it’s a big decision to make with Espirito Santo not yet getting the chance to stamp his own authority on the team in the way of personnel.

Furthermore, his remit was to keep Forest in the division and it looks as though he’s done that now – so he must be praised for that.

Five wins in 20 does tell a story though and considering two of those came in December, it’s hardly been a fruitful few months.

The ball is now in the court of Marinakis and perhaps things will become clearer for Espirito Santo after Forest face Burnley this weekend.
