Report: Aston Villa set to receive bid for 'special' Steven Gerrard signing, he's available for £6m

Aston Villa are set to receive a bid for a Steven Gerrard signing this summer, according to a recent report.

The Villans have enjoyed a marvellous campaign and are well-placed to finish inside the top four in Unai Emery’s first full season in charge.

Club chiefs will be hard at work behind the scenes drawing up a list of transfer targets ahead of the summer.

Though, they’ll also be working on outgoing, too, and it appears one Villa man is already nearing a move away.

Vasco da Garma set to bid for Philippe Coutinho

Brazillian outfit Vasco da Garma are set to submit an offer for Aston Villa’s Philippe Coutinho, who is currently on loan at Al-Duhail SC, according to TNT’s Octavio Neto.

The 31-year-old is currently plying his trade in Qatar’s top-flight and has netted six goals in 22 appearances.

Though, he looks set to move on this summer, as his former club ready a loan with an obligation to buy proposal.

Villa are demanding between £4-6m for the ‘special’ playmaker, who is under contract at Villa Park until 2026.

Philippe Coutinho wants to leave Aston Villa

The journalist further claims that Coutinho is interested in a return to Vasco and his former club have accepted his demands.

So, after a bright start to his Villa career, it seems ultimately, that the £17m signing hasn’t really worked out and he’s probably already played his final game in claret and blue.

What is a little surprising is the fee Villa are demanding, as it seems a little low for the 31-year-old.
